Experiment # 6 A / D Converter Design

Instead of the A/D converter design, you can also choose to work on a design project of your choice. Consult with the instructors about your project topic. This handout gives an introduction to A/D converter characteristics, testing, and A/D converter types. Characteristics common to all types of A/D converters are discussed in Section 1, together with a test circuit that can be used to verify A/D converter performance. Operating principles and block diagrams of several popular types of A/D converters are described in Section 2. Laboratory tasks are outlined in Section 3. The prelab assignment is in Section 4.
